Recently there has been a lot of controversy on global warming. Some people say that carbon dioxide from mans activities such as burning of fossil fuel is adding to the upper atmosphere and trapping heat causing the global warming. As far as I know when you blow up a balloon and fill it will carbon dioxide from my lungs and I let the balloon go, it doesn’t go up into the upper atmosphere, but instead fall to the ground. I don’t see therefore how global warming is caused by extra carbon dioxide therefore. Their argument that we should therefore cut down on car usage, however, I might agree with if they then improved the quality of public transport.
If that cut down on congestion I would be greatly in favour of that, plus I really don’t think pollution is much fun either. I think the usage of the private car really has got a bit out of control. Personally I very happy using a bike for short journeys.
While I admit all the above I also have to admit that I love cars. It’s just that I hate getting into my car only to get stuck in a traffic jam. So if you could get the daily commuters and the mums shopping and school runs of the road then they would be less congested for those who simply have to use the road, and make them more pleasurable to drive on once again.
While I am at it I mean changing the world, I would also do something about road safety. I believe that road accident statistics are a disgrace.
